ARTICLE 9 - Using Reiki to release a behavioural issue

ree

Just like us, our animals can have behavioural issues that arise from all manner of things: fear, trauma, learned conditioning, ancestral patterning or past life events.

It’s important not to judge their behaviour, but instead to understand, empathise, and show compassion for what they’re going through.

Reiki healing, as I’ve said before, has an intelligence of its own and will always go where it’s most needed. I’ve witnessed many occasions where it has helped change an animal’s behaviour in incredibly positive ways.

In a future article, I’ll explore the effects of giving long-term Reiki to our animals and the changes this can evoke in them—much like the shifts we experience ourselves!

But in this article, I want to share a couple of stories where Reiki created powerful transformations in animal behaviour.

STORY 1 – HEAD-SHY HORSE

This story beautifully illustrates how Reiki intuitively finds where it’s needed and can bring healing in ways we might not even expect.

I was giving Reiki to a horse in his stable while his human was out mucking the field. As I moved towards the horse’s head, he kept turning away, clearly uncomfortable—especially with me approaching the left side of his head.

I found myself saying out loud, “What on earth is going on with your head?”

No sooner had the words left my mouth than I was hit with a sudden, excruciating pain in my own head. It only lasted a few seconds, but it was intense enough to leave me feeling shaken.

What happened next was extraordinary. The horse suddenly relaxed completely. All fear of me approaching his head disappeared, and he gently leaned into me, resting his head against my chest. We were experiencing the most beautiful, deep connection.

When his human returned, she was stunned. She explained that he had always been extremely head-shy on the left side. She could barely groom past the first half of his neck. But now—suddenly—he was completely fine.

And it wasn’t just a one-off. The change remained. His head-shyness was gone for good.

How do you explain that? I believe he released the energetic trauma connected to that part of his body. Maybe it released through me, or maybe I simply felt it due to our energetic connection. Either way, it was incredible.

STORY 2 – BEHAVIOUR CHANGE IN THE SHOW RING

ree

My friend Kerry had a young dog, Harry, with huge potential as a show dog—but he had one major issue: he disliked being handled by judges.

She had tried everything to help him overcome it. Nothing worked, and she was just about ready to give up.

That’s when we decided to try Reiki. I also shared a few energetic tips she could use while in the ring.

Two days before a big show, I gave Harry some distance Reiki. The next day, Kerry said he was literally falling asleep on his feet. But at the show? For the first time ever, he calmly stood while being handled—and he won his class.

Two weeks later, I sent him Reiki again in preparation for Crufts. Not only did he win his puppy class, but he remained completely calm, confident, and unfazed. A true champion! Kerry’s dad, who accompanied her, couldn’t believe the transformation. He kept saying it was hard to believe this was the same dog.

A clear pattern began to emerge. Whenever Harry received Reiki before a show, he was fine with the handling. But on the occasions he didn’t receive it, the old issues would return.

Kerry was so moved by the impact of Reiki on Harry that she became attuned to Reiki herself—describing it as one of the most beautiful and heavenly moments of her life. Before long, Harry was crowned Champion!

One of the greatest testaments to my work is when people are so inspired by the changes in their animals that they choose to walk this healing path themselves. I truly believe our animals guide us to these practices for a reason.

In future Articles, I will share many other ways where reiki can benefit our animals.
